EUKN
The European Urban Knowledge Network
(EUKN) is the prime European knowledge network for urban policy
makers, practitioners and researchers throughout Europe offering
high quality knowledge and services to inspire them to make the
European cities a better place to live, work and play.
Description
The key objective of EUKN is to enhance
the exchange of knowledge and expertise on urban development
throughout Europe, bridging urban policy, research and practice.
EUKN is characterised by a demand-driven approach, based on the
needs of urban practitioners and policymakers.
National Focal Points have been
established in all participating EU member states.
The main role of the National Focal Points
is to facilitate (local) urban capacity building, based on the
knowledge and experiences available within the EUKN network.
EUKN was established during the 2004 Dutch presidency of the EU. Since then Nicis Institute has been running the secretariat of this knowledge network. Thanks to its position within EUKN, Nicis Institute possesses a very strong network in seventeen EU member states. Within EUKN, Nicis Institute acts as the National Focal Point for the Netherlands.
