Description

The key objective of EUKN is to enhance the exchange of knowledge and expertise on urban development throughout Europe, bridging urban policy, research and practice. EUKN is characterised by a demand-driven approach, based on the needs of urban practitioners and policymakers.

National Focal Points have been established in all participating EU member states.
The main role of the National Focal Points is to facilitate (local) urban capacity building, based on the knowledge and experiences available within the EUKN network.

EUKN was established during the 2004 Dutch presidency of the EU. Since then Nicis Institute has been running the secretariat of this knowledge network. Thanks to its position within EUKN, Nicis Institute possesses a very strong network in seventeen EU member states. Within EUKN, Nicis Institute acts as the National Focal Point for the Netherlands.
